About Makeda Voletta The Body Scientist

High Level Performance Training, Nutrition and Sacred Sexual Science Education.

I am a 30 year old Black American/Nubian Seminole woman who was born and raised in Harlem, NYC. As a child I studied classical ballet and tap at the Dance Theater of Harlem and Harlem School of the Arts. As an adult I have studied various dances of the African Diaspora specifically in the Americas and the Congo. I have performed with Haitian and Congolese companies and choreographers. I am also a student of Afro Dominican. Afro Puerto Rican, Haitian and Congolese drum styles to say the top four. I dabble in some others. I earned a degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning and minor in Nutrition from the University of Delaware in 2003. I then entered the M.S. program in Applied Physiology and Nutrition at Columbia University. I completed two years of work at Columbia and decided to take a break to focus on my company ART + SCIENCE, LLC. ART + SCIENCE, LLC is a small holistic fitness and nutrition education company. I am available for one on one fitness training and consulting, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, group workshops, lectures and panels. I have also been an athlete my entire life. I have experience playing basketball, soccer, softball, fencing, tennis and track and field. I competed in NCAA Division I Track and Field for a couple of years in college and this motivated me to want to train (female) athletes. Female athletes are my #1 passion and love but I am also qualified and skilled to work with men. I have realized that most of the research in Exercise and Sports Science…as well as medicine is mostly done on men. Much of the scientific community acts as if women are just miniature men and children are just bite size adults. In actuality, women have a different hormonal system and anatomical make up than men and children are in a totally different category than adults. Each person is their own organism and should be evaluated and trained as such. I am an ACE certified Personal Trainer, AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor, USA Weightlifting Coach, NSCA Strength and Conditioning Coach and an Etchebery certified Tennis Strength and Conditioning Coach. I am very SERIOUS about what I do and all I ask is that my potential trainees be the same.

Hey chica! Just wanted to reach out to you in hopes of meeting you one day. I teach something similar and always look to gain inspiration and motivation from others doing the same thing. Gaining knowledge and expanding my practice is what I enjoy doing. I’m walking my path alone it seems like so when I come across people like you I get happy! You can hit me back or not…but if you choose not to I’d like to wish you much success on your endeavors and pray that you succeed.

Beings that this is new to me where would you suggest I start, I in my previous message I was interested in the black obsidian, and the red quartz, are those good to start with, and is it best to take your classes first, before purchasing?
